Description
Viscometer Measurement Process
The rotational viscometer uses a spinning rotor (bob) inside a fixed cylinder (sleeve). The resistance the fluid exerts on the bob is measured at various rotation speeds, known as shear rates (Revolutions Per Minute – RPMs):
- 600 RPM Reading (Ø600): Used to calculate PV and YP.
- 300 RPM Reading (Ø300): Used to calculate PV and YP.
- 3 RPM and 6 RPM Readings: Used to determine the gel strength (the fluid’s ability to suspend cuttings while static).
Equip your site with our Rotational Viscometers to move beyond simple flow time and gain precise control over Plastic Viscosity and Yield Point. This advanced data is essential for accurate chemical dosing (e.g., CMC and PAC) and maintaining ideal cuttings transport efficiency in challenging HDD environments.
