The Role of the Sand Content Kit

The Sand Content Kit utilizes a simple sieve analysis method to quickly measure the concentration of abrasive, sand-sized particles in the drilling fluid.

API Definition: According to API standards, sand is defined as any solid material larger than 74 micrometres  in size (or 200 mesh). These larger, abrasive particles are the primary cause of equipment wear.

Measurement Unit: The final reading from the graduated glass tube is expressed as Percent (%) by Volume.
