Description
Engineered for Directional Control
The core function of the Orientation Sub is to house the critical directional survey equipment and transmit precise orientation data back to the surface.
Key Technical Functions:
- MWD Landing Sleeve: Contains a landing sleeve designed to securely house Measurement While Drilling (MWD) tools and other directional survey equipment.
- High Side Determination: Used to establish the high side of the tool, which is crucial for determining the tool face offset and orientation in the wellbore. This real-time data allows the drilling engineer to make precise corrections and steer the bit exactly where needed.
- Fluid Flow Control: Provides necessary fluid flow control at the bottom of the drill stem.
Robust Construction & Material Excellence (H2)
Our Orientation Subs are built to withstand the harshest drilling environments—high temperatures, intense vibration, and significant shock loads—ensuring uninterrupted data transmission.
- Premium Materials: Manufactured from premium-grade materials such as ANSI 4140/4145M alloy steel or specialized Monel bar steel. The use of Monel is particularly advantageous as it is non-magnetic, ensuring the magnetic orientation module operates with maximum accuracy, free from interference.
Applications: Were Precision Matters Most
The Orientation Sub is non-negotiable for projects demanding exceptional directional precision:
- Directional and horizontal well drilling (Oil & Gas, Geothermal).
- Extended-reach wells with complex geometries.
- Multilateral wells and relief well intersect drilling.
- HDD and large-scale trenchless projects requiring precise utility or pipeline placement.
