Description
Barrier 1: The Primary Defence Against Abrasives
- Component: PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) Bushings.
- Technical Detail: These are the first and most important barrier. They are designed with a deliberate interference fit on both the inner and outer diameters.
- Function: Due to their tight fit and wide sliding plane, these robust PTFE bushings completely exclude abrasive particles (like sand and fine rock cuttings) present in the drilling fluid. By preventing direct contact between the abrasive slurry and the main seals, we eliminate the primary cause of seal failure and shaft damage.
Barrier 2: High-Pressure Containment in Ideal Conditions
- Component: Standard Reinforced Cuffs (Pressure Seals).
- Technical Detail: These are high-quality, reinforced seals capable of holding pressure. The internal cavity between the PTFE bushings and these cuffs is filled with oil during assembly.
- Function: These cuffs operate in ideal conditions: They are fully immersed in an oily medium and are never allowed to interact with abrasive particles.
Barrier 3: Internal Bearing Protection and Oil Retention
- Component: Internal Cuffs (Swivel Body Seals).
- Technical Detail: These cuffs are installed inside the flanges of the swivel body.
- Function: This third barrier ensures the overall tightness of the swivel body. It contains the internal cavity where the main bearings are located, ensuring this critical area remains permanently filled with clean oil, providing maximum bearing protection against contaminants and heat.
